Tring Brewery News
January 2009

A Massive THANK YOU
..to all our pubs and retail customers that helped make last year and Christmas a great success. For most small independent brewers it has been a hard year but unlike the lager brewers our cask ale market has held up very well and the reason for that is you! This year will be just as hard for the pubs with VAT going back up and an imminent budget in the spring. Your visits to the pub, however frequent, are so important if the pub trade and those who supply them are to survive. Please do all you can. To all, we wish you a happy and prosperous New Year.

Movember Update
For those of you keeping track of what goes on here at the brewery, (other than brewing!), you will know that Andrew and Ben took part in Movember, a moustache growing fundraiser in aid of the Prostate Cancer Charity. The great news is that now all the donations have been collected, we can confirm we exceeded our target of £500 with a final total of £632.00. Once again a big thanks goes out to all who supported us. For those who have not seen it already here is a shot below courtesy of the Tring and Berkhamsted Gazette.

Side Pocket in National Bottled Beer Finals
You may remember reading in November that our Side Pocket won the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) regional bottle competition. Beating a field of quality bottles beers, it will now be judged in February against the other regional winners. This will be one of the most important finals we have been in so wish us luck.

Monthly Special - January
The first special of 2010 and we are confident this is not going to disappoint. This is a classic amber-coloured bitter, with a full bitterness that lingers for an age. Late hops do not overpower the bitterness but are sufficient to be noticed, leaving a pleasant floral after taste. As with all our monthly specials, it is available for a limited period only. Click here to for more information on all Tring Brewery's 2010 monthly specials.

Recipe of the Month
If our previous hearty seasonal dishes have not managed to ward off the chills of winter then maybe this fiery beef chilli may prove to be the answer. This simple dish can be made using any of our ales, however the darker ones could be best. Click here to view this and many other recipes using Tring Brewery's fabulous ales.
