June 2010

A salute to you all (part 2)
We have finally totalled up the donations from the sale of Salute, our National Cask Ale Week beer, with all the money heading off to Help for Heroes. The combination of your generous donations and our own contribution means the target of £500.00 was exceeded. The final figure stands at £697.37. A huge thanks to everyone for helping us support this very worthy charity.

Lions (English ones)
It's that time again when the stage is set for the World Cup. Some of you will no doubt be glued to your tv screens watching every match, others will be going to great extremes to avoid this grand spectacle. Whatever your take on the World Cup, rest assured that the pleasure (or pain) will be best accompanied by "They Think It's All Over", our sumptuous match day ale, available very soon from pubs and our brewery shop.

Tigers (from Leicester)
On May 24th Tring Brewery played host to the team of walkers, support staff and invited guests taking part in the annual Walk4Matt charity event, headed up by Matt Hampson and Roy Jackson of the Leicester Tigers. Having tackled a 25 mile section in searing heat, food and refreshing ale was warmly received. A raffle event during the evening resulted in over £1000.00 being raised for the charities.

STOP PRESS: Recent feedback from the organisers indicated we put on one of the best evenings of the week and our involvement has been requested next year. At present over £100,000.00 has been raised from this years walk www.walk4matt.org

Wasps (of the Italian variety)
For the linguistic intellectuals out there, you will be aware that the Italian for wasp is Vespa and on Saturday the 5th of June they swarmed into Tring Brewery, refreshing themselves with some sweet nectar (Fanny Ebbs Summer Ale) before heading off. The plan was for around 35 Vespa and Lambretta owners to stop for a short brewery tour. However after word got out out on Facebook we ended up hosting around 80 riders. Some fantastic scooters parked up in the yard and dare I say it, we may have converted some hardened lager drinkers. Check out the photos HERE

Douglas Bader Foundation
Two of the guests at the Walk4Matt event were Mayor Roxanne Ransley and Keith Delderfield, Director of Operations for the The Douglas Bader Foundation. Brewery Director Richard Shardlow was on hand to present them with a cheque for over £800.00 in support of the charity. The money had been raised during the previous weeks Spirit of Tring event.

Shiny new brewery
The once empty metal clad "barn" on Dunsley farm has undergone some amazing transformations over the last few months. The near completion of all internal walls, floor finishes and ceiling now hints at what a fantastic new facility this will be. The good news is that all is still on track for a July opening. Look out for an extra update over the next few weeks specifically related to the new brewery site.

And finally
Local comedy club "Get Stuffed" is hosting a series of events at the Pendley Court Theatre over the coming weeks. With a musical and comedic line up featuring the likes Russell Kane and Adrian Edmondson & the Bad Shepherds (who have requested our ale on their rider), tickets for the evenings, especially the Tringe Festival are already selling out quickly. Best of all, there will be Tring Brewery beer at the bar! For more info click HERE

Recipe of the Month
As you can imagine, with the completion of a new brewery on the horizon, things have been a little hectic, so much so that our beer/cooking experiments have been put to one side for a month. To make up for this we are offering you all the opportunity to submit a tried and tested recipe (of your own making). If we publish your suggestion over the coming months a free 9 pint mini keg of ale is yours for the taking. Submit your recipes to me at:
