September 2010

Firstly a big sorry for those of you expecting this newsletter last week....technical problems I’m afraid. Good news is that it’s all sorted and even though I should be relaxing on my week off I could not let you all down!!

Blonde Goodbye
Last week saw the final brew, a beautiful blonde, racked at our Akeman Street site. A sad end to what has been a significant chapter in Tring Brewery’s history but not so sad that tears dripped into the beer!
The Akeman Street site has certainly served us well but with demand outstripping supply it was time to move on. We are all now working from the Dunsley Farm site and are exceptionally pleased not only with the new facilities but also the level of customer support and the quality of the brews. The beer honestly is even better than before, which is all we could have asked for.

Diary Date (part 1)
This month sees the beginning of the 15th Annual St Albans CAMRA Beer Festival. As well as a great selection of ales, ciders and perrys there will also be live music and food. Tring Brewery are once again sponsoring the music stage and in addition to our regular beers we will also be rolling out a couple of cask conditioned bottle strength firkins of Death or Glory (7.2%). The St Albans CAMRA Beer Festival is always a great event and worth your support.

Diary Date (part 2)
This year we have been invited to supply what would (in the old brewery) have been over 3 weeks worth of beer output to J D Wetherspoon as part of next months Ocktober Fest. Look our for pints of our popular Signal Box Brown Ale, originally brewed as the monthly special for February 2010.

HO HO HO
There, I’ve gone and done it, a blatant and unashamed Christmas reference. Lets face it, usually by now some shops already have decorations out and seasonal offers stacked high. That said, it appears that most places are holding back a bit. Maybe the economic climate has spared us 3 months of tinsel and tat before we even get to December. Anyway those of you familiar with the Seasonal celebrations in Tring, will no doubt (possibly hazily), recall our annual presence at the Tring Christmas Festival. This year we will again be dishing out the pints and also proudly supporting the event as one of the key sponsors. Merry Christmas!!

Monthly Special -Brookmans
We had planned to produce a ruby coloured ale this month. Unfortunately we got a bit carried away with the flavours and notes. The result, a complex well balanced bittersweet brew that makes a great session ale.
As with all our monthly specials, it is available for a limited period only. Click here to for more information on all Tring Brewery's 2010 monthly specials.

Recipe of the Month -
Ale & Onion Soup with Bloomer Croutons & Mature Cheddar

Well if you think the recipe title is a mouthful wait till you start tucking into the food itself. This substantial soup makes a big starter or even a small meal!!!
