The Tring Brewery Company was founded in 1992 and after a ‘brewing drought’ of over fifty years it once again brought the traditional art of brewing back to the picturesque West Hertfordshire market town of Tring.

Started by Richard Shardlow, an experienced brewer having worked for Greene King, Ruddles and Devenish, the brewery was joined by Andrew Jackson from Whitbread in 2000 who has both a brewing and retail background.

The Tring Brewery Company has enjoyed increasing success over the past years through it’s reputation for high and consistent product quality forged through a commitment to the art of traditional brewing with only the finest ingredients. A number of awards, both local and national have been achieved.

Tring Brewery’s ales are prepared by the traditional method, using malted barley, hops, water and yeast. The finest ingredients, most of which are home grown, include hops from Kent and Worcestershire. This, in conjunction with Tring’s ideal hard water, provides the perfect formula for classic ales.

The majority of the names for Tring Brewery’s ales have been described as somewhat unusual. They are all themed around intriguing ghostly tales, myths and even sayings from the rich history of Hertfordshire and a few from local tales in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Our colourful triangular pump clips start out as watercolours. We think they are very distinctive which makes them easily recognised when entering a pub. We also have a more traditional style of pump clip for those who prefer something a little more understated. We like to think that our brand and products offer enough choice to satisfy whether you are trade or retail
